Is hearing voices a normal thing?

During the last couple of month i have been hearing voices.. It is hard to explain but they aren't voices in my head, they are right behind me, and usually when you think, you think with your own voice, but this is not my voice..

I can't make out what it is saying most of the time. Usually it's a very loud voice yelling "HELLO" right behind my head.. And yes i turn around to see but no one is there..  it can't be someone calling out to me because it is literally right behind my head, as if someone crept up on me then disappeared..

I have asked my mother about this but she brushed it off telling me "For this family it's normal."
It doesn't feel normal, especially becuse most of the time it's incomprehensible..

Should I see a doctor, will they give me medication?

Or is this a normal thing for people?

It is quite worrying for me.

Voices are generally part of our emotional connections whom we miss subconsciously or have been dependent or connected with for long, especially when we feel lonely. Music can be a good healer. Uplifting positive good music. However, if it is happening continuous or for long then it is something you must seek a doctor  for. But ultimately it has to be either you or your conscience Listen to what is good and do what is best. Take care
