The difference between Yaz and Yasmin?

My 14yr old daughter had a huge cyst removed from her ovary last year and was put on Yaz as a precaution. I was not happy about this but was told by the gynea it was needed to stop it from happening again. now we have moved to Qatar and the pharmacy gave me Yasmin as he said it was the closest. I see that the one hormone is the same but the other ethinylestradiol in YAz is 0.02 and in Yasmin is 0.03. What does this mean and is it safe to give her?

We come from South Africa and have no commercials for contraception. She was put on it by her gynea. We are now in Qatar so really have no choice.... Tell me about the problems please? I know at one point she had her period for more than 2 weeks. I guess i will have to take her to a gynea here and find out. Thanks

With all the commercials you see on TV about YAZ and Yasmin and all the problems it has caused, i cant imagine that the positives out weigh the negatives. Currently I am on Levlen birth control, it has the minimum amount of estrogen and it works wonderful! But because everyone is different, i would suggest doing some research on birth control types and find whats best for her, then talk to a doctor about those types you have looked over.

Good Luck!

The amount difference isn't very high, so I would think it is safe, but it is better to talk to her doctor about it to know for sure... Usually anything under a .05 difference is fine.
