Hello:
My daughter is 14 years old and she is been having a lot of behaviors problems mainly been unable to channel anger in a healthy and acceptable social way. I took her to the doctor and he recommended Trileptal. I'm not very pro to this type of medication. Can you please tell me your opinion.

Thank you

Hi!
I also agree with you that at the first go no medications should be started. During teenage because of hormonal changes and other factors like trying to act big, increased burden of studies etc, teenagers are often unable to cope. They are not able to express themselves. This results in anger out bursts. In my opinion cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) will help. Even talking to a therapist will help clear her mind and channelize her energy positively. Also, CBT will help her realize and identify her anger outbursts and properly channelize her anger. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.

Hi and welcome. What type of behavior problems is she having? Anger stems from frustration and often is the inability to communicate.
