Made a Decision to turn our will and lives over to God as we understand Him

In step two, we came to believe, in step 3 we make a decision. Many people think they are doing these two steps in one motion, but they are very different. Knowing there is something more powerful than me is very different than making a decision to let that guide me. I think this step is often accompanied by the pink cloud, though I didn't have one, I see it all the time. I find step three to be a huge lift of the burden ahead. It helps me remember I'm doing my best, and I can let the rest go for now. Even if I'm riding on Vicki's bus, I don't have to constantly be a back seat driver. I don't have to understand it all right now, my Higher Power is reading the map, I just have to believe that I am on the right road.

For me, I knew that doing this by me and my own will got me in trouble. I had to come back to my God and give this back to my God. I have always believed but like you said I kept driving the bus my way. So I knew the only way out was to turn it to my God..This does not mean just my Addiction but Anything..I have no control over alot of things and I do have enough faith to know God has his reasons. Sure I can choose which path I want to go down but I can not walk it alone..Walking alone bring darkness.lol

With Step 2, like you post, we came to believe, and in Step 3, we turn it all over to that which we believe. This is a great relief to many addicts, to not have to rule the world anymore and to trust that someone, anyone you choose who is more powerful then you is in charge and it is not you.....

These steps work best when we practice them every day and in some cases during early recovery, several times a day.

In many meetings, Turn It Over, is almost a mantra between fellow members of AA or NA.  It is a wonderful reminder that we no longer have to have the responsibility of the world on our shoulders.
