Methimazole make me feeling worse

Recently I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism due to Graves disease, I experienced the symptoms of nausea, rapid heart beat (over 100) anxiety and panic attacks. I had to stop working due to my symptoms. While I stayed at home I started to feel better, experiencing only discomfort  due to heart beat for only few times a day. At that time my endo didn’t prescribe my any thyroid medicine as I was supposed have thyroid uptake scan prior it. Finally after the scan (results were high 38%)  doctor prescribed me Methimazole 20mg. Second blood test confirmed as well hyperthyroidism
On my second day of taking Methimazole all of the sudden my symptoms came back. I feel nervous, my hands are shaking, I feel nauseous.  I was hoping to feel better within few days as I am supposed to come back to work in a week. Is it possible that sign can get worse?

May need to give this more time.  Also retest thyroid levels now to make sure this way not a transient hyperthyroidism that by the time you had the scan you were hypothyroid (causing high uptake) - this is not common, but have seen happen.
Nausea is a side effect of methimazole - separate to 10mg 2x/day (after breakfast and after dinner) - if that is the dose prescribed. Often only 10-15mg total per day does the trick.

I have one more question for DR Lupo. ..  My symptoms from the begining are disturbing in the morning and it is very mild or  all gone in the night. Basically prior diagnosting Graves disease I was only sick in the moring,  around 8 pm  I was healthy person. Is is possible that my nervous problems, anxiety attacks, problems with stomach, nausea may be related to cortisol level? Should this be treated separately  ? Should I do another tests? Please let me know

Thank you Dr Lupo for your answer. Nausea symptoms are the most disturbing right now (today it lasted for about 8 hours) therefore I was wondering if after few days it should go away. Starting tomorrow I will separate the dose I hope that will help

I take two pills of  Methimazole  - together 20 mg  all in the morning as doctor prescribed. When I think about my nausea, it makes sense to take them before bed or take pills separately in different times. Is there a reason why pills have to be taken once a day in the morning?

Have the put you on beta blocker for the symptoms?  If not, maybe a beta wuld help get you through the beginning until your levels get to eurythroid.
