With a 4cm follicular cancer, I would agree w/ completion thyroidectomy and eventual I-131 treatment. The I-131 could be delayed without significant risk until nursing is completed. There is no other alternative treatment options (besides observation w/ no additional therapy - which is not our first choice). I-131 is the most specific for metastasis survery, HCG and AMAS have little to no role.
just wanted to say I am so sorry you have been diagnosed with cancer at such a young age. my prayers are with you
Thank you so much. This is unbelievably stressful and unexpected! I'm meeting with the endocrinologist tomorrow and I'm trying to find out if there's any way to save my thyroid. Frankly, the things I read on this forum really have scared me regarding RAI and thyroid replacement therapy.
I appreciate all prayers and positive thoughts that come my way!
