~* GREAT NEWS HERE ... my nodule is "stable" ... the

only tiny tiny deviation from 6mos ago is that maybe it is a bit larger but we are talking "smidgens" here so it really is negligible.  Originally the u/s stated 3mm .. maybe the last one even said 3-4mm .. but that is nothing .. that can be from turning the head in a different position!   I have been told this nodule appears the same as the two larger ones removed in 1/07 that were 100% benign (overgrowth of thyroid tissue = adenomas).

"In the midportion of the left lob anteriorly, there is a
hypoechoic nodule which measures 3-4mm in diameter,
which appear approximately unchanged from the prior examination of 10/2/07.

"Stable, small left thyroid nodule"

YES .. GOOD NEWS ... Doing the Happy Dance Here!

Cheryl (partial 1/07 .. 2 papillary microcarincomas removed as incidental findings)

Always a road block on this loving world of insurance companies ruling over our treatments.

That is a a great idea but beware:  My insurance turned me down on it .. I wanted to do the same thing with this small nodule but irrespective of size they said nope.

My Endo then told me that she wasn't so keen on it and would fight with insurance for me but she said it could add more anxiety to me bcz there is no real answer from that test .. just assumptions sometimes.

Tin foil hats off to you Cheryl - Always hope for others that someone has good news to share.

AS you know - deep thought on my part. As everyone says I have to be my own advocant here - so I have been a bit consummed on trying to see what the next best recourse is for me.

Again no sleep last night with thinking - I stummbled across a thought maybe I should wait on another FNA. This nodule I have has not even been determined if it is hot or cold -

That could be another indicator of a beign or cancerous lesion. I am thinking I may want to approached one of the doctors to find out that piece of the puzzle on a scan before jumping into another FNA

I believe this may determine if hot: TSH is active in the nodule (that could explain the horrific hypertension I had after the first FNA . The TSH could of leaked out due to all the probing trying to get a sample.

Or if it is a cold nodule: there would be another risk factor that this could be a solid mass of carcimona. and maybe another FNA would not be needed and move directly to a removed of the tissue.

Soooooooooooo  tired . way to much computer time in the last 48 hrs. Now to approach ONEof these doctors treating me on this thought and see how well this gets taken seriosly.

Great new for you my tater. :)
