Hello Kevin,

No my thyroid levels have not been re-checked. I am seriously going to take care of this problem and make an appointment this week with an experienced neurologist. I don't think my thyroid is working well, I am taking 1 grain of Armour per day but I don't think that's enough.

do you think the vitamin d deficency , effected your syntroid . absorbtion, were your hypo symtoms because of that, or not enough syntroid? Kevin

My level was at 15.1 My doctor had me take 50,000 UI/day for 2 months (Feb-April) and now I take 2,000 UI/day for the rest of my life. I also take Armour for hypothyroid. Before or after taking the vitamin D has absolutely changed nothing to my energy level (very low) or anything else.

I do believe the serum levels of normal are 32-100 with optimum on the lower side .. the older stats used to recommend in the 50's but now I've been told the 30's is where they are looking @ to baseline and there's a note on my lab slip saying the same from a major lab.

Mine was 9.0 .. normal 32-100 ... after 8 weeks of vit d therapy I'm now 33 and feeling much much better   .. I had all hypo symptoms.

Hi, guys!

My vit d level was 18 last June.  The doc had me take 50,000 IU supplements ( a prescription), one 50,0000 pill a week for 8 weeks, then she tested again and it was up to 44, so stopped the supplement.  After reading up on vit d and realizing that perhaps I could still use more, I ordered the 50,000 IU vitamins online, and have been taking one per week ever since.  (Not sure this is a good idea, but it's what i did).  Anyway, I go back for my annual checkup again in June, I will tell my doctor what I did, and I will get her to check the vit d level, along w/ the regular other bloodwork.  I will report back and let you know what the level is.  Hope it's not at the toxic level.  I don't get a lot of sun because I've had many issues w/ skin cancer... from getting so much sun in my teenage years!

My Vit D recently tested low at 22.  My doc reviewed the results and said that, since they started testing 80% of his patients are low Vit D.  He said it has to be our climate.  I think low Vit D is a seasonal thing.  And the best way to resolve it is to get outside and get some sunshine.  Vit D is naturally synthesized in your skin.  The media has taught us to fear the sun and skin cancer.  Truthfully, you need some sunshine to be healthy.
5-15 minutes a day without sunscreen will do it.
That explains why those evil tanning beds feel soooo darn good!  It boosts your Vit D, lifts the winter blues, and boosts your metabolism.
This is only my opinion.  So take it for what it's worth, - nothing.  :)
