Anyone have swollen lymph nodes and a thyroid nodule, but it wasn't cancer?

I have swollen lymph nodes in my lower neck and a 2.2 cm nodule on my thyroid. I had a biopsy performed yesterday and awaiting results. I am really nervous because of my swollen lymph nodes. Are there other thyroid issues other than cancer that would cause swollen lymph nodes? My doc said I could have some sort of infection, but my primary care doc prescribed steroids to see if that would decrease the swelling and it didn't. They are soft and vary in size during the day.
