Breathless

I was diagnosed in February with hypothyroid, I am having episodes where I feel very breathless, it feels like I have been running outside in the cold air and the air is burning the inside of my windpipe. I have noticed (as this is my third episode) that I tend to be more bloated at the time. It's quite scary really? do you think this is connected to my thyroid problems?

Thanks

i've had episodes of breathing difficulty for years that were never attributed to anything.  i thought i had asthma, allergies, anxiety, self-induced, etc.  the episodes seemed random, and i could never pinpoint them.  over the past year i've been diagnosed with thyroiditis, was hyper then hypo.  i'm taking synthroid now.  i really think my breathing issues are thyroid related, but i've never been given any remedy / relief.

i really can't offer you much, as i haven't been offered any explanation/diagnosis.  however, i can say that you're not alone and you're not crazy!  there are many people from this forum who complain of shortness of breath/breathing issues.

talk to your doctor about it.  get some breathing function tests done if you feel that you're not getting better.

Thanks, it's good to hear I'm not hypochondriac as well !!
I had a bad day of it yesterday and at one point considered going to A & E, anyway I sat it out and although I have some feelings of running in my chest it's better than yesterday..
Am planning to visit an specialist about this as soon as, will let you know the outcome..

I am dealing with thyroid cancer and treatment and lots of surgeries right now. I have lots of breathing issues. burning lungs when going up stairs ect. I m in good physical shape, 41 yrs old 127 lbs. my last TSH came back at 148! I am now on high dose 150 of synthroid for last 2 weeks, breathing is getting better. I'd guess you are in a hypo state....

ger231,

Has the burning in your lungs started because of the thyroid cancer?

I am having that same problem and many others.  I am a very healthy 31 yr old.  I have 2 thyroid nodules and 1 has microcalcifications and is located on the tip of the right lobe.

I have had a few pet scans to see if the cancer has spread anywhere besides the lymph nodes, and so for only there, not lungs. I believe I cant breathe because of the high TSH level. I can barely do anything that I normally do. Energy level is squat!!

I had a complete thyroid removal on 2/4/ of this year, then had to go back in because a hunk of cancerous thyroid tissue was left the first surgery, so had another "thyroidectomey" 4/17 of this year. Seems like everything that could go wrong has....I just found out have ot have surgery again. 5th one this year.....

I'm burned out and discouraged....
