Candida (yeast overgrowth) & Hypothyroidism connection

Has anyone been diagnosed as having hypothyroidism as the result of Candida (yeast overgrowth)?  If so, what steps did you take to heal? Did your doctor (conventional or naturopath) do a Candida panel? Did you follow a strict diet with regards to sugar including fruit, grains including gluten, other carbohydrates (starch), dairy, and fermented foods?

I've never had a single fungal infection in my life. I wasn't 100% sure why and put it down to my love of saturated fat (anti fungal) but then I found out candida needs an alkaline environment to grow and I'm sure not alkaline! I'm acidic due to insulin resistance doing a number on my kidneys. Bicarbonate labs always low.

My mother had severe systematic yeast infections however.  She took betaine HCL with pepsin to increase stomach acid and all fungal infections she's suffered with for years stopped dead in its tracks!  A good article on to check out: Candida: Acid or Alkaline?
