Graves Disease_Chemo?

I just found out not to long ago that my mother has Graves Disease. She had to get her thyroid removed from it. Now they are giving her an experimental drug of chemo that they give cancer patients. They say its suppose to help with the swelling of her eyes. Has anyone ever heard of chemo being given to help? I live out in Richmond, VA and I am not able to attend her appointments with her due to her living in Ohio. It just doesn't makes since to me and I have found nothing on that. I have asked my mother if she is telling us everything and she claims she is, but I have a feeling something is not being told. Can anyone give me a little comfort with the idea of chemo being used to help fight the disease?

Thanks!

You may want to ask your mother to sign a release allowing your doctor to discuss her condition with you. Then you could get the information 1st hand and you would be able to ask any questions that you have.

I have heard of radiation being used (but not widely) for swelling associated with Graves Eye Disease, but not any chemo drug.
