Graves Disease?

I have been going to an Endocrinologist for almost 1 year.  He has done several ultrasounds showing that I have 5 tumors on my thyroid.  I have a biopsy which showed they were benign. I recently had another ultrasound which showed one of the tumors had shrunk but another one appeared.

For the last several months I have been experiencing very bad eye problems including eye infections, some vomiting, increased bowels, heart racing episodes frequently, urinating frequently, fevers, and the list goes on and on.

I asked my current Endocrinologist about this and I told him I thought that all of these issues were related to my thyroid (I didn't even know about Graves disease when I asked him these questions).  He told me that all of this is in my head and that I'm crazy and I need to see a psychiatrist!  I was absolutely infuriated.  I know that none of this is in my head at all and I'm definitely not a psycho.

I work a full time job 70 hours a week and I have two boys ages 2 and 3 and I'm a single mom, so I don't have time to deal with his ****.

Can any doctor please tell me if you think I might have the onset of Graves Disease or how is it diagnosed because I don't have time to play around with this and I want to do what I need to do in order to become healthy again - especially for my babies.

Thanks very much!

Graves Disease cannot be cured...sorry to say you have it for life.
As for the natural 'way', I have never come across anyone who has succeeded in 'controlling ' Graves with natural therapies alone.
If you do have Graves Disease and Hyperthyroidism, you are at high risk of thyroid storm (atrial fibraillation) if not on anti-thyroid medications which can result in a massive heart attack or even death.

I am not trying to scare you in anyway...but please research Graves Disease as much as you can.
I know you want the 'natural way' but sometimes we cant always have what we want in life and do have to 'accept' some things we dont want too.

If I had a choice, I wouldnt have Graves Disease....but I do and I have 'accepted' that by controlling it the best way I know how after having 3 episodes of thyroid storm in 3 weeks prior to RAI and Thyroidectomy last year.

Please research all you can as it will help you along your journey.

All the best

Hi ya'll.  Thank you for your comments.  I have had all the bloodwork done.  I will get the information from my doctor next week and post it.  He did diagnose me with hyperthyroidism and said my thyroid is producing way too much hormone.  So I don't know where the guy gets that this is all in my head.  Anyway, enough about him - he's fired!

Deb, I think you're right that I might have the onset of TED because I have had severe trouble with my eyes lately, so much so that it feels like my eyes are just going to fall out of my head and my vision is double sometimes along with getting severe migraines.

I have been changing my diet as I read more about this disease.  Seems like I have every symptom on the list.  I'm a very holistic person and I would prefer to correct this naturally if possible, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Will post bloodwork next time.

Thanks.

Ask your Doc to do the TSI (graves antibodies test).
This will determine whether you have Graves or not.
My guess is....you have.

I also believe you may have the onset of TED (thyroid eye disease).
Ask for a referral to an Othamologist (not Optometrist) and he will tell you whther you need to be on Prednisolone for the eyes.

As for the Endo....sack him!

Hi charlene, have you had any bloodwork done regarding your thyroid, and if you have i suggest you post the results on here, as there are some very good people on ths forum who will work them out and tell you if you have a thyroid problem.
It sounds to me like your endocrinologist, might be a diabetic man,
Have your bloods done for thyroid, TSH, ft3, and ft4
also get your thyroid anti-bodies, done then post the results on this forum,
Then we can tell you if youve got graves like you suggest
Are you taking any current thyroid medication?
I suggest you get your bloods done first and foremost, then we can help you
Try not to stress to much, as stress doesnt help the thyroid.
and you want to stay healthy for your babies
keep us posted #
