Had my endo appt today!

Hi to all! Well just as I suspected my endo is having me do bloodwork in 3wks (as he increased synthroid last week from 50mcg to 75mcg....TT 12/17/09) and I stated in previous post that my TSH was 66.061. He said that he will have me do bw every four wks and increase from there. Also, to take 2,000mg VitD daily. Just going to appt exhausted me. I have anxiety, diarrhea and loose stools, acid reflux, no motivation, heart racing, etc. I sure hope that this all works itself out. He also said he is raising the synthroid slowly because I am so sensitive to meds and warned me that everytime there is an increase, I will prob have side effects for 1 to 2 weeks. He said some people have side effects and others don't. I guess I'm one of the people in the 1st group. Blah. How do people tolerate this??? IT HAS TO GET BETTER! Also, he said he checked T3 and T4 and said those numbers were ok. I'm sure the reason for the high TSH is that I should've been bumped to 75mcg...say end of Jan or beginning of Feb! Any tips on how to cope with this hell would be greatly appreciated! Sometimes I don't know if the things going on are just from my body adjusting to being thyroidless and getting used to synthroid? I mean, how do you know what feelings and symptoms to blame on that...or if I have another health issue? I don't know what's normal to expect and what's not and that causes some anxiety all in itself! .......Any replies would be helpful! Thank You!

I looked up old post and it says T uptake range is 0.66 to 1.27 and mine is 1.08. Also, T4 range is 4.5 to 12.0 and mine is 5.6. Someone told me to ask about T3 and I did and he said about 10% of people need T3 med added but thinks the reason I feel so horrible is because of the TSH being 66. He said I will begin to feel better as he adjusts my med but it takes time. Also, stressed how important it is to take VitD. My report shows Im very deficient in that! My number is 19 and should be over 30 so i am taking 2500mg of that. My B12 level was fine. I sure hope this evens out soon. I know it takes time but I am feeling worse and worse everyday. How do people deal with this without going crazy???

It took me up to a year to get on the right dosage, so feel for you.

Just continue to the the blood work....hang in there....

Maybe you should try to get them back or get an other copy.  Without knowing the levels of FT3 and FT4, it's impossible to tell where you fall in the range and help you figure out whether or not need more or different med.

One thing with thyroid issues is that it does take time and patience; and just about the time you think you have everything balanced out and going good, it can throw you a curve and you get whacked out again.

I agree with your doctor though in raising your dosage slowly, especially since you are sensitive to med.

Thanks for commenting and good morning! I posted my lab report on here somewhere..maybe in one of my other posts. I'm sorry I'm new to this site so I'm not sure. I did have a copy but yesterday I left them @ the endo's office by mistake. He was flipping thru my chart and I just pulled my copy out of my purse and gave them to him lol. Guess that's part of the "brain fog" I experience also in forgetting to get them back! Ugh. I hope things improve soon!

What were the actual levels of your Free T3 and Free T4?  It's possible that even though they are "in range" or "ok" -- they might not be right for YOU.

If you can post the results, along with the lab's reference ranges, that would be a great help.

Well I still have my thyroid, so cant comment on TT, but I'm fairly well versed in hypo symptoms like many with Hoshimoto. Many with longtime Hoshimoto people depend on thyroid med to simply function. But you got this hypo thrown at you all at once, what fun!

Having felt really hypo and then hyper from med type changing all I can say is you learn what you individually feel per your thyroid levels. We all have some different symptoms. This will take time but you will figure most of it out. I still have symptom questions myself sometimes and just ask about it. You'd be surprised what people have experienced here.

Synthyroid (T4 med only) takes 6 weeks for the full effect, it cant be rushed. After your labs are leveled and if you still dont feel great, then adding a T3 med might help. For many this is the answer, but its a waiting game till then. Feeling better can take a little longer after the labs look good. But you need to find your 'sweet spot' in the ranges where YOU feel best - and a doctor that understands the importance of this.
