Hashimoto

Im really confused.  I definately have Hashimotos but my thyroid tests keep fluctuating so my doctor wont put me on meds. I still have hypo symptoms but since the tests arent showing it then im out of luck.  Could having a lump on my thyroid be giving me these symptoms? Because Im having an ultrasound tomorrrow for a lump that was found. I just find it weird that I have abnormal findings and yet nothing can be done about them.
Any replies would be great!!!

With hashimoto's your tsh should be supressed to .50-1.0. If your tsh is higher than that, you will be symptomatic...I had to learn this by my new endo who specializes in thyroid and autoimmune, and this was after being undertreated by a diff endo for 2 yrs.
Soooooooo you can be symptomatic long before labs show, BUT is your dr knowledgeable of hashi's and the proper lab ranges for this? A lot of drs just see normal on the lab ranges and think it is all okay, when it isn't.
As the antibodies destroy your thyroid you will need more and more meds once this process starts.....until you are on full replacement.

Geez!  There has to be something that can be done! Maybe we should consider a holistic approach for our symptoms? Its really exhausting...Im sure you'll agree!

That sounds exactly like my situation right now....I got diagnosed with Hashi's but they won't treat me because my tests all came back within normal range, but I have numerous symptoms of hypothyroidism. I also have many nodules on my thyroid which my Endo did not tell me, but my ENT told me, that they can cause the symptoms of hypothyroidism. So I'm stuck being completely exhausted until something happens...like my Hashi's Antibodies destroy the rest of my thyroid...haha. Goodluck to you!
