Sounds like the Depression of the Thirties followed by/including the Dust Storms, some sort of cosmic cycle.

It's only 90 here in Florida

The one thing I don't understand is why I do my sweating at night.  We keep the house cool and I still wake up several times a night sweating profusely.  Yet, during the day with high humidity and heat, it does not bother me as much, even when I am at the gym exercising.  Yeah, the heat is not comfortable, but nothing like at night!  Would anyone like to comment?

{I would give anything to know why I sweat so much at night and how to stop.  And I am hypo according to my FT3 2.8 and Ft4 .77}

-  Most likely because your still hypo. N sweats are very common when hypo for women or men. It  can take a long time for thyroid levels to stabilize and longer for symptoms to go away.. One year for me after finding the right med my body likes.

In some cases of long term hypo people can develop unstabile adrenal glands, also causes sweats. That is a different but related topic al together. I was sceptical of that at first, not any more though. Some do get it, and docs dont understand it very well..a few here do, from their personal experience.

Well I know all about the night sweats...started getting them when I was 37yrs old. My gyno keeps telling me it is not from menopuase, but she can't tell me why I get them.

I freeze during the day...and get night sweats. I think it could very well be that I am clinically hypo. They at one time thought I was having a hypoglycemic episode during the night so I started eating something sweet before bed so my sugar would not drop, it did not change a thing. I don't get them every night, but maybe about 15 nights out of a month sporadically. Although for the past week I have had them every night, maybe I am hitting the "life change" afterall now...

I very rarely sweat during the day no matter how hot it is.  Not even when I exercise.  But I sweat at night.  I wake up and just want to crawl into the fridge.  My Gyno says it shouldn't be due to memopause since I am 61.  In the winter I freeze during the day and still sweat like crazy at night even though we turn it down to 65 and I sleep under a sheet.  I would give anything to know why I sweat so much at night and how to stop.  And I am hypo according to my FT3 2.8 and Ft4 .77.  I just started Armour 6 weeks ago and am taking 90mg right now.

That how I felt, just sweating standing still last summer.  I would feel kind of flu like before in the heat. What a huge difference now, hard to believe.

It can get hot here to depending where it's blowing from. This heat wave is a record for us in June. Last time it was above 99 anywhere in MN was in  August 06.

moose .. good to hear. im 3 weeks into this reduction in dose now. feel better. a few weeks a go the heat really hit me hard .felt sick, breathing, nausea, sweating standing still.  maybe this heat wave won't be as bad. i think the heat is heading here from  your area. so  i bet the cooler weather will follow  in a few days. , work no ac in bldgs . no ac in trucks over 110 degrees inside. so it's not good in the best situation especially  when hyper.  i though minnesota was cool year round???

The heat tolerance can get better once your level is what you need.  I just fine tuned last month and take the heat very well now..

We even got the heat wave up here. 101 F officially today, yep, way up hear that's very unusual. Hotter in the city too, reports of bank signs saying 105 F.

Will be 65 F Thursday, 55 at night, what a roller coaster, I cant wait.

I did a little yard work this afternoon, and didn't over heat at all, I felt great! Last summer while still adjusting to thyroid med level, I felt sick when it was just 80. What a huge difference one year made. No night sweats any more either (yuk!).

FYI - If you post your question separately it is more likely to get answers, rather than posting as a comment here. I'm hypo, so I cant answer your questions myself.

Hi I came accross this page as just been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism graves disease 5 days ago and i'm sweating like a pig.
Free t4 93.2
Free t3 27.9
TSH 0.01
Using 40mg Beta blockers every 8 hours
40mg of carbimazole a day.
I don't know much about hyperthyroidism but docters seem concerned and are booking me in to hospital as soon as they can. Apparantly t4 levels are highest they've seen so thats an achievement haha.
Any advice on heat issue or anyone who has had this a while and can give me info on what to expect for the future would be greatly appriciated.

Hi,

I noticed your comment about night sweats.  I get them every night, winter or summer, very hot or very cold days.  I am 61 and had a hysterectomy.  I used to think they were estrogen related (lack of) but are they common for thyroid?  I am on the hypo side, never hyper.
