Okay, so i originally went to my GP as I noticed some hair thinning, asked for all the usual tests and everything came back normal except I had slightly elevated calcium levels. Im 27 years old. Was then sent to get my PTH tested this was done while I was NOT fasting. Anyway, PTH came back as slightly elevated aswell. Got sent for an ultrasound which showed nothing, all normal. Was then referred to an endocrine specialist. She sent me off for more calcium tests ionized etc, PTH and Vitamin D tests (all fasting this time) and urine calcium test. These all came back normal, except I had low Vitamin D. Was told to take vitamin D supplements and then get tested for all calcium tests, PTH test and vitamin d test again. All test then again came back normal, with elevated vitamin D which it would have been as she prescribed I get 1 single dose of high vitamin d) anyway...I have been searching Dr. Normans website and read through everything but I am still confused. I went back to the endocrine specialist today and she said everything seems normal now and she does not believe I have hyperparathyroidism but it was infact due to the vitamin d deficiency.
Everything I have read contradicts this, and whilst I have read through Dr. Normans parathyroid website it doesn't really go into any depth about people who are under 30. Can anyone shed some light? Is it possible I DONT have hyperparathyroidism?
