Hot Thyroid Nodule

I've been told I have a hot 2.9 hot thyroid nodule.  I have others but they are more like 1.3 and cold.  I really don't care to have my thyroid completely removed.  What are my options? I'm worried that this condition can cause me other problems but what I'm not sure.  Have a appointment Monday with the thyroid doctor.  Feeling like of motivation, some depression and feel like it came on quick.  This is odd.  Also that I become really sleepy like I could fall asleep all of a sudden.  What do you think.

FNA is Fine Needle Aspiration.  Is that nodule 2.9 cm or 2.9 mm?

Wait...I had that on the hot nod.  I have had it done a few times.  Don't have Graves and don't have Hashimotos.  Will get test back tomorrow and posts.

As I posted above:  "Hot nodules are almost always noncancerous, but a few cold nodules are cancerous. The disadvantage of a thyroid scan is that it can't distinguish between benign and malignant cold nodules."

Since hot nodules are almost always noncancerous, there's probably nothing to be done with it.  At 2.9 (was that cm?) has your doctor mentioned an FNA?

Many of us have nodules on our thyroid... I have/had a multi-nodular goiter; there was no action required, because there were no signs of cancer.

Please list your symptoms; some can "cross over" and apply to both hyper and  hypo.

Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies to determine whether or not you have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis or Graves Disease?  If so, please post the results, with reference ranges.

Have you been tested for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4?  If so, again, please post results with reference ranges, which vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.

If you haven't been tested for these things, you need to be.

What are my options with this hot nod?  What would you do?

I haven't been diagnosed besides what I've said.  Not on thyroid medication.
I have symptoms of both.

"Nodules that produce excess thyroid hormone — called hot nodules — show up on the scan because they take up more of the isotope than normal thyroid tissue does. Cold nodules are nonfunctioning and appear as defects or holes in the scan. Hot nodules are almost always noncancerous, but a few cold nodules are cancerous. The disadvantage of a thyroid scan is that it can't distinguish between benign and malignant cold nodules."

Have you been diagnosed with a thyroid condition?  If so, which one?  Are you currently on any thyroid medication?  If so, which one(s), at what dosage(s) and for how long?

Do you have any symptoms of, either, hypo or hyperthyroidism?  If so, which ones?
