Thanks for your response....I guess i'm just trying my best not to not feel "too" hypo because the exhaustion is enough.......
You are expecting too much too soon. I'm hypo after RAI. During my journey, my symptoms usually lagged behind my labs by 30 days or more. My labs said hypo, but I still felt hyper. I took the Levo anyway. 30 days later it hit me. Freezing cold, couldn't get out of bed, muscle ramps, etc. But my TSH had dropped from 8.9 to 2.3?
I think that with all of the modern medicine, I should be able to take a pill to make my complaints go away in 30 minutes, like Tylenol for a headache. Thyroid meds just don't work like that.
Hang in there. It does get better. It just takes time.
Thanks Again...I will take your advice and write dow every side effect that i notice. She already knows about the feeling of being exhausted, which is why she'd increased the first dosage. I will also call her about sending me for labs before i have my appt with her.....God Bless You!
I had a TT in early June. My endo ordered lab tests about every 6 weeks on average. I did have 1 lab test a few months after my TT at 4 weeks because I was feeling really horrible. Turns out I was going hypo because my meds weren't high enough. It was caught sooner rather than later which was great. My endo has been really good about listening to how I feel and he works out the tests and meds around that. I also kept track of how I was feeling. I wrote everything down so I could try to make connections between my meds, my labs and how I felt. I shared all that with my endo. I'm convinced that has helped me get to the point I am now which is feeling wonderful.
thanks for your advice...also: How often do they normally order labs????
Each person has their own reaction to Synthroid. As a general rule if you're having hypo symptoms upping the dosage of synthroid will start to make them go away. You and your doctor will eventually figure out what dosage works for you. It's trial and error based on your lab work as well as how you feel. Ask for the TSH, Free T3, Free T4 blood work and make sure you get the results. You'll start to see a correlation to the numbers, your med dosage and how you feel. I would ask your endo to order the blood work before your visit so you can discuss it while you're there. You're also only 4 weeks post TT so some of the exhaustion and not sleeping well could have to do with that. As easily as people recover it's still surgery and it takes a little while for your body to adjust.
Good luck...you will feel better.
My topic should read: Hypo....
