Hypo and Hyper thyroid. Has anyoje experienced this??

I have been Hypothyroid for years (diagnoised at 13 I believe and am 29 now) and dealt with all the symptoms that came along with it. Something happened with my body in December. Suddenly I was having panic attacks and chronic anxiety daily along with a stressful tension feeling in my chest area daily along with full body awful aches and pains, jittery, internal shakes, unwanted anxious energy, really really cold than really warm like hot skin.  Admitted to hopsital 5 times during 2 month period for all those symptoms.  Had countless and endless blood work done looking for anything and everything and even had a MRI and EEG done. Oh and about 8 EKGS.  The only thing that showed was that I was Hypo AND HYPER. ..which is impossible right?  Finally found a good Endo who said iam primarily Hypothyroid but I also have Graves disease.  He did not say what ive been experiencing is from the thyroid malfunction, though I was feeling in perfect health for years before all this and my labs have never showed any Graves. Any advice??

Can you post your actual test results that are showing, both hyper and hypo so we can see what they are?  Be sure to include reference ranges as those vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own reports.

What symptoms are you having?

In my case Graves antibodies went away. I can't say what will happen in your case. I stopped taking thyroxine at the time. My doctor wanted to prescribe anti thyroid medication but I thought I'd see if symptoms resolved....which they did.

Treatment for non resolving Hashitoxicosis is block and replace therapy (anti thyroid medication and thyroid medication). Removal of the thyroid gland is a last resort.

Previous to December I wasn't on any thyroid hormone for at least a year. Simply bc I'm bad at remembering to take medicine. I had labs done during this time and was told my numbers look good I might not even need to take hormones. Fast forward a year later **** its the fan. Labs done in December at hospital show I'm hypo and hyper than labs done again in march show I'm baseline hypo and also have graves disease. I think the graves percentage was like 330%
You may need to see an endocrinologist.

I've had both types of Hashitoxicosis. Graves causes far more intense hyperthyroid symptoms. I only had Graves antibodies for two months in my case (triggered by an extremely stressful event) but had pretibal myxedema on my shin for a year after that.

"It should be pointed out that, especially in the US literature, the term ‘hashitoxicosis’ is sometimes used to describe an autoimmune thyroid disease overlap syndrome of Graves’ and Hashimoto’s disease.2 In this article the term is strictly limited to the ‘leakage’ symptoms of active Hashimoto’s disease." - Touch Endocrinology - Hashitoxicosis – Three Cases and a Review of the Literature
