I am in real physical pain - After typing, I need to retitle this as a RANT

I just don't get the feelings I am having today.  I have achy PAIN in my shoulders, and shoulder joints, all the way down my arms, in the muscle and bone and shooting pain in my thumbs.  I have an ache in my wrists too and all of my arm and chest muscles hurt and get a throbbing feeling every once in a while.  Any ideas?  I know if I call my doctor(s) - yes, I have been to three, all three of them will politely say they don't know what it could be because I only have a goiter (a "hetrogeneous one) with "normal" blood tests.  WHY DO I FEEL THIS WAY????

I HATE THIS **** and why is it the first thing you are asked by a doctor is "are you under any stress??" I am getting the feeling I am going to have to be rude the next time and say "HE!! yes - I am, you can't find anything wrong with me that would cause an actual symptom I am having!!!

Please someone tell me how a supposed non-hashi thyroiditis can do this to me without changing me stupid blood levels?

Sorry for the harshness of this post everyone you know it is not pointed in your direction!  I am just very upset at not having a solution.

Hell yeah to your comment on the fibro. I think it's a cop- out when the doctors are unknowledgable, lazy, or too arrogant to admit either of the previous two.  I know I come across as a doc- heckler and maybe I am, but i think most of the "itis" they come up with nowadays are merely a collection of symptoms, not the actual cause. Chronic Fatigue Syndrom, for example- now that's a freaking symptom, not a disease. You aren't tired and exhausted just because.  I read a lot of people complaning mostly about neck and rib cage pain. My last doctor told me it's just a common place to get pain. HA!

Also, anyone ever get a dull type pain behind the left shoulder blade? This pain never goes away for me at all, it increases slightly when I breathe in deep, but that's the only time it ever changes. It's constant. I've had this for over ten years and I dunno if it is related cause I was in a car accident months before it started and had whiplash for a while. But it has never "healed" if that's what it is from.  And I'm always in chiropractic care and nothing has ever help this particular pain.  Anyone??

What you describe is very common ezpeically thumb pain. I feel the same way all the time. It is OK to rant because this seems to be the only site that understands thyroid problems. Most endos only want to treat diabetes more profitable and easier. I can say this because was nurse and have a son who has been diabetic for 20 years. Please don't rule out fibromyalgia. Use heat, hot showers, pain meds like aspirin or ibuprofen or get the doctor to give you a muscle relaxant like Robaxin or Flexeril or Soma. All will help. Be good to yourself .

I can so relate.  I was not feeling this way a month ago.  Looking back I have always gotten very faint carpel tunnel feelings, but I am a paralegal and type all day so have ALWAYS attributed it to that.  Now this goiter thing (p.s. - it is right sided) and then the itis symptoms, now the PAIN PAIN PAIN.  I mean really it feels like the flu, but 20 times worse.  Haven't had a heart palp in I guess about over a month, that has switched to super tired and today I am foggy, crabby and want to smack the doctor.  I called the GP's offc to see if my ANA test came back (really, at this point I hope it picks up something b/c at least they might start treating me), but the idiot nurse has not even given me the courtesy of calling back.  I FELT FINE (just tired) 2 MONTHS ago!  In the past 7 years I had only ever seen the doctor for my self (well not entirely myself) for pregnancy 2x and then one time for not being able to withstand 15 days of the worst stomach trouble I could ever have (lets just be nice and say I spent my entire 15 days in the bathroom).  So why does this have to be happening.  THIS is stressing me, stress is not CAUSING IT!      AAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGG! (and a big fat sigh to go with it)

OMG I really think the fibro thing is played into everything. I still believe they needed to concock a Dx for these symptoms and that is what medical term they came up with. I get so ticked off about this fibro stuff - again the norm--- if they can't find the root of the problem cover it up with meds and such.

You are hypo and your antibodies are attacking the gland. The labs won't show it b/c of the ranges.

I may sound crabby -- sorry but my I am ready to scream b/c my neck is killing me today again. I suffer back of the neck pain terribly since my thyroid stuff. it is the muscles and joints -  and myine inflame something terrible.

I should calm down b/c it was a he// of alot worse many months ago where I couldn't stand it. Worse then today.

The only thing possible to do is massage- soak in a bath. DO you have a hot tub? If not find one and soak alot.

Until your doctor - or your labs finally show something - they are going to shrug their shoulders and do nothing.

We thryoid patients are so desperate and most of us were people that were strong and hated going to the doctor - In our nature it takes us a mountain to even go to a doctor - so something must be totally wrong - or we would be fine living our lives without them!!

All:

I must apologize if the post was rude, I feel bad to rant that way here.  So sorry for that!

Amy:

Isn't this crazy?  So, your thyroid levels are off?  I just cannot see how something is not showing up in my blood because at the present, I feel just horrible!  Of course, I was not feeling all that bad when they tood blood last month, just neck tightness, swollen glands, ear fullness and a little tired.  Now it feels like my muscles are crampy, etc.  Today this is mostly in my arms.  Yesterday my legs ached, just a little, like working out too much.

I am having every symptom your having, only in a little reverse. I don't have a goiter, but my blood labs say that I have thyroid problmes. Does the pain ever shoot down into your rib cage as well? I go the docotor again on Tuesday because they say the symptoms may be from somthing called fibromyalgia. It's pain and aches without a specific source. I hate that because I always feel like the doctor thinks I am a hypochondiac. Trust me I hate needles and people touching me, so if I complain then something is really wrong.
