I'm losing my mind, I mean seriously.!

What is the deal! I have been the ER about 5 times in the last few months. I intially went to my Family Dr with the complaint of "feeling" short of breath and coughed it up as anxiety and I got back on meds, and well it didn't go away, so we did blood work and we found out it was anemia and so he coughed it up as it was the anemia. BUT NOW I went back to the ER yesterday and I am really at the end of my rope with this feeling its horrible with someone who does have a panic disorder (its not anxiety related as the feel is always there) and it in fact MAKES my anxiety worse. Anyway, the cked my anemia and it almost back to normal 10.6 and I started at 7 I believe. So its a slight low... So now it's not anemia, so what is it now? Latley other than the "feeling" of shortness of breath which by the way all my o2's come back 100 percent and my blood ox which is they take blood from an artery was 106 so Im getting oxygen but feel like Im not. I have been getting BAD headaches latley, amongst other things. Am i nuts or what? Im actually going to a cardiologist tomorrow to make sure thats ok. Can this all be thyroid related? How is that possible.. Sorry I feel like crying again, I just to want to feel normal.

I am 6'2" and 275 with a broad frame. I have had the feeling of being short of breath, however, my O2 levels are 95-96% which the doctors tell me as long as they are above 92% that is OK.  He told me that it is anxiety and put me on Lexapro. I have been on it 2 weeks and still feel no different. Could anyone out there help me or is anyone familiar with this?

I have gone through all postings on thyroid problem.
My experience is completely different.
My doctor friend just told me that my face is becoming moony.I just remembered that moon-like face is predominant symptom of Hypothyroidism.
Then I went to my Physician and told him that I am hypothyroidic. He asked for the test t4,t3 tsh. Looking at the report he said "you have correctly diagnosed your problem" He put me on Thyroxine sodium 100mg.,telling me "you have safest disease, easily treatable, most economical treatment" This was 30 years before. Now I am 78.I have had no problem related to thyroid directly. i get myself checked t4,t3 and tsh every year.
It seems that if the disorder is diagnosed earlier, there should not be any problem

My medical journey started one year ago.  My first symptom was shortness of breath and a really difficult time breathing, expecially when exercising.  I'm familiar with asthma as I get it when I'm sick on occasion but this was different.

When you experience the shortness, do you feel it short in your lungs or more around your throat?  For me, I felt like my lungs would fill but I was really tight, almost strangled, in the throat.  My o2's were fine as well and pulminary test was normal.

Try this exercise to get you through.....lie on your back and put a book on your belly.  Breathe deep to your diaphram and make the book go up and down.  Don't breathe in your chest or shallow neck area.  Diaphramatic breathing calms you down and relaxes all those muscles in your neck that really tighten, especially when you are wondering if you're just going to stop breathing.  Practice it during the day when you are doing other activities.  It will take the tension out of your throat.

When i went to the er complaining of the heart racing shortness of breath etc... they just said anxiety since all my CBC levels were normal.  I also asked for thyroid tests but was told we do not do that in the ER.  I was told this by 3 hospitals.  I had to go  to my GP for a thyroid test.  Hopefully you can get one soon to see if this is causing the symptoms.

Well, I have a friend that works in the lab.  :o)

Seriously, it takes less than an hour. But there may be other tests in front of yours, and it probably does take hours for the nurse to take the report off the printer. You can ask them to print a copy you can pick up at the lab if you want to.

At least you're getting the tests run.
That's a start.

It takes about an hour to run a a TSH test and a Free T4 test and have a printed report.

I've done it, more than once.

That is the saddest excuse NOT to run a test I have ever heard.

I have two young girls and am affraid that Im missing out on them and making it seem like I dont want to do anything with them, and I do but Im so tired and then breathing becomes difficult...

Your thyroid is so important to your body if its just a liittle  off you can feel miserable. I have been hypo for about 2 years and haven't felt a bit "normal" the entire time. Could be that. But generally when u go to the ER they check your thyroid level.

Hey! I am right there with you. Here's a big hug......Now this 'thing' that you have...do you have hypothyroid too? That can cause the breathing difficulty. I've had it I know all about it! I suffer from anemia as well...always on the scale of "Oh my god, how are you still breathing?" I take a liquid form of ferrous sulphate and that has brought my levels up, BUT I still get all the symptoms of anemia. So I can understand what you are saying.
My oxygen levels are always low though. They always put me on the nasal tube to get me to look more alive.
It could be anemia related. What alot of doctors don't realise is that there are many forms of it. That taking a tablet doesn't always solve the problem. If you Vit B12 is low then you have a different type of anemia. So get them to check for that too.
No you are not nuts...that job title has already been taken by me.
Have a cry...it'll make you feel better...Lord knows I do it alot myself. I too just want to feel normal again...well, at least not so tired as to be able to take the car further than the driveway with out falling asleep!
Cheers!
