Is it possible to go off Eutroxisg?

I've recently been prescribed 50mg of Eutroxsig a day and have been taking it for just over a week now. My doctor said I would have to take it for life, but that doesn't sound right to me. What if my TSH levels were improving or getting too high? Would I then be able to go off it? Also, I'm also wondering if I'm able to go off it for 6 weeks while I go overseas as I'll be on a tour where we'll be moving around a lot and remembering when to take it and remembering not to leave it behind in hotel fridges will be a little annoying. I will if I really have to and I'm going to ask my doctor about it but is it possible to go off a dosage if it's quite small like mine and I haven't been taking it very long?

I think you could if you can handle the symptoms of hypothyroidism. I can't and in fact in my case if I stop taking eutroxsig for a day I'm in trouble. Plus I found out from Cyclone Marcia Marcia Marcia (lol - I can laugh about it now but it was one extremely horrible week in summer without electricity) that Eutroxsig potency drops drastically when not refridgerated and I was gasping like a fish out of water again.

First question would be why you were diagnosed as hypothyroid and started on 50 mcg of Eutroxsig?  What were your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report that prompted the med?  what symptoms did you have?
