LID

C2E
I'm confused with something my doctor said and now I can't reach him over the long weekend. I am on my last day of isolation after RAI and he told me that I can get off my diet after three days of isolation. Then I am going to wait a week and do a scan to see if my large dose radiation worked. (I did this whole process last week to determine if I needed large dose radiation meaning  2 days of thyrogen shots, small radiation pill, scan fourth day and then had to repeat the shots this week, etc) I had to stay on the LID last week for my scan and I am just confused why I am waiting a week and going off the diet is ok now? Is this confusing to anyone? Want to make sure before I start pigging out on dairy tomorrow. :)
Thanks and have a nice weekend!

here is my guess, and it is just a guess: you probaby don't need to stay on LID until your whole body scan. you needed to stay on it for your  test (small pill) scan and your treatment (large dose) and for a few days after while the treatment was working.  my dr. said I could go off LID 3 days after my RAI also.  when you are scanned next week, they will not be giving you additional RAI, just looking at you on a machine, so you don't need to be LID.  even if they thought you needed another round of RAI, they wouldn't be giving it right away, so you wouldn't need to be on LID.
-thats my guess, but if you want to play it safe, you could stay on LID until you clear it with your dr. I hated LID but honestly, it took me awhile to get used to eating "regular" food again anyway.

This is not my area of expertise, and I am only replying because it's the long weekend, and I think the forum will be pretty quiet.  I know my neighbor just had a scan on Wednesday, and she has to stay on the LID until they get results and see if there's anything further they have to do.  I hope someone more knowledgable than I will pipe in, but if not, I'd keep it up for the week, just in case...it's not worth the hassle if you go off and were supposed to stay on.

Good luck, and pig out on something legal!!!
