Lots of Tightness

I had a TT on 8/6 and am still experiencing lots of tightness all over my neck, not just around the surgery scar.  I've also accidentally pulled some muscles in my neck and I know that doesn't help.  My surgeon tells me that lots of blood is going to my neck right now to try to heal the muscles that were cut during surgery and to heal the wound itself.  Someone else told me that tissue is being created in that area which will also cause feelings of tightness and/or pressure. Does this make sense?  This tightness is really uncomfortable.  Anyone else experiencing this?  How long should it last?

Thanks for your comments.

how is your tightness going now?  I am new to this forum as I just had my thyroid surgery about 11 weeks ago..and I am interested in any thing about the after effects..
as I am still having a lot of tightness..my dr says its the lymph node glands draining...etc as it comes and goes..tightness is always there but somedays its much worse..also I am experiencing a lot of discomfort and pain around the cut...I have been told its scar tissue...its awful and everyday is a battle..I was told this surgery was reasonably painfree..haha what a joke..

I am told to just give it time...and so thats all I can do but somedays I just get so over it..and feel its never going away as it doesn't seem to want to heal..I just keep going thru the same process day in day out..

I did get some some rosehip gel instead of Vitamin E cream a few weeks back and it hepled a little...it made the scar not feel like a stick stuck to my neck but it didn't help the pain inside at all...

I guess I really just need encouragement from others to let me know it will improve eventually..as at the moment I can hardly go or do anything as its too sore and uncomfortable..

I am post TT since Dec 2005.  My neck is still as tight and full as it was on the day of surgery.  It has been almost unbearable without any change dispite PT, injections etc. All 20+ doctors have never seen anything like this.  The only temporary relief is when I take both hands on my neck and pull the skin and muscles upwards.  Just as soon as I release my neck it's back to normal.  Only the best for you during your time of recovery.

I too had a TT on May 22, 08.  The tightness drove me crazy !!!  Now a little over 3 months out, I barely notice the tightness.  It has lessened to the point where I actually forget about it most of the day.  I still feel it slightly at certain times.  I know exactly how you feel.  I cried for a month.  I promise it gets better.

it's not so much the tightness (although I feel it at times) it's the discomfort when I sneeze.
oh the joy. . .

I had a TT in 2006 and the tightness lasted for almost a year.  It is a gradual process.
