What is SRT3? Slow Release?
Cytomel and SRT3.
TPO is normal.
Nevery heard of Tirosint. Will check it out. Thanks.
So you are on cytomel, only?
Have you tried, or looked into, Tirosint? It's a T4 med that comes in a gel cap. The only ingredients in it are the levothyroxine, water, gelatin and glycerin, so it's essentially, hypoallergenic.
Have you had the Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies?
You need to ask your doctor for Free T4, not Total. Total T4 is obsolete and of little value.
I've tried Armour in the past prior to is having filler problems, I've tried synthroid titrated way down. I've tried just raw desiccated bovine thyroid. I have not been able to tolerate T4. My TPO 6 ( 0-34). Insomnia off and on is a big problem. I don't know if I feel over medicated, with the exception of when I am trying to sleep.
The test was for T4, not FT4.
Are you only on Cytomel because of the reaction you've had to T4 meds? You look over-medicated, but how do you feel? Honestly, you probably do need some T4 by the looks of the T4 level-what have you tried in the past? Generic, brand names, both? It might be wise to start really small-lowest dose possible on a T4 med to help, if you're having symptoms.
Your FT3 is way higher than the upper end of the range and your T4 (is that Free or Total? They aren't the same test) is on the floor of its range.
Are you only taking cytomel? If so, why? It's very rare for any doctor to prescribe only a T3 med for long term use. If you're on a T4 med, which one, what dosage and for how long?
Do you have symptoms of over medication? Those could include rapid weight loss, diarrhea, heart palps, rapid heart rate, etc.
Have you had a Thyroid Peroxidase Antibody test? Both TGab and TPOab have to be done to rule out Hashimoto's.
Some people naturally have a higher TSH and trying to bring it into normal levels can result in over medication.
At this point, I'd probably agree with your NP about dropping the cytomel dosage and adding T4, but that would depend on your response to my questions.
