Med Help

I react to every medication i have been given more my Thyroid.  I was recently changed to Armour and it worked well for a few days but then as usually my body reacted as it does with all other medications, no matter the dose.  I get very nauseated and I get Tachycardia and very sick.  My body does not seem to do well.  I have been struggling now for over 3 years to find a resolution to my thryoid problems and I am having no luck.  I struggle with IBS and Lacotose intolerance as well, so my body is very sensative.

Are there any suggestions?

thank you

If you have a question you would like answered, it would be best to post a question of your own on your own thread.  That way, members will see your question in the title, and it won't get lost in the middle of an unrelated thread.

I, personally, have never had any pain from my thyroid, but many members report having pain.

Regarding the IBS, many people with thyroid disease also have reactions to certain foods. Try alternating foods to see which ones give you reactions. Here are some possible suspects:

Gluten, wheat products, etc...
Refined sugar
Dairy

I get IBS, too. I recently started eating the Kozy Shack puddings with probioitics. That really helps calm my stomach. I also quit gluten and I limit my soy products.

Your Armour could be making you sick.Have you tried Nature Thryoid or compounding pharmacies? Many people are now reacting to the new fillers they put in Armour.

I take Synthroid, not the generic version, which has caused sickness in my mom.

You are most likely getting tachycardia from the Armour because it contains both T3 and T4 (the two main thyroid hormones).  In addition, it contains more T3 compared to the amount of T4 than our thyroids would produce if they were healthy.  If you are susceptible to tachycardia (you said other meds gave you this too?? - which ones?), then the large amount of T3 in Armour is probably not a good idea for you.

What is your dose of Armour?  What other thyroid meds have you been on?  Do you regularly have free T3, free T4 and TSH tested?  If so, what are your current levels?

It's also possible that you were started on too much med too soon.  Some of us have to start very low and build up very slowly because we are very sensitive to the meds.
