Hello, I have read somewhere in this forum that they take calcium plus vit d3 to ensure calcium is absorbed by the body. Caltrate Plus is the brand name that I am taking which is a combination of Calcium 600 mg and Vit D3 200 IU. Im not familiar with Calcium Citrate, do you have a brand name so I could try to check it here and see if that can make a difference or is that the brand already. Im not under any thyroid meds yet bec my Endo wanted to see if my left thyroid will be able to compensate the thyroid function even with my right one removed. Im scheduled to see him 2 weeks after being discharged from the hosp..
Hi again. I take 4 x 600mgs Calcium citrate. I take two in the afternoon and two at night. I know for a fact Caltrate tablets are not tolerated by many people. My pharmacist said he is trying to get people to take Calcium citrate.
I took Caltrate and that was the one that made me feel nauseous. Now I changed to calcium citrate I feel less nausea.
Make sure you take the calcium at least 4 hours after your thyroid medication. They interfere with each other.
IIm thinking that it maybe connected to the meds because I will feel nauseated after two hours of taking them. I was prescribed to take two 600mg Caltrate and I take them both at the same time. i was thinking of maybe taking the second pill an hour after the first one, maybe that would help. How many mg of Calcium do you take? and do you take it once at the same time? Thanks for responding on my previous post :D
Sometimes the calcium supplements can upset the tummy. I had nausea for a long time after my surgery. It was when I changed to a different brand of calcium that it seemed to ease. Maybe that is your trouble?
Im nodular thyroid prior to the surgery. I'm not sure now since I need to wait 6 weeks post surgery before blood test can be done. Had PT done.I feel like I always have an empty stomach even after taking a meal. I guess I just need to monitor more since it has just been 5 days post op. thanks for the message stella5349
Is this an acid reflux issue or nausea constantly?
Both conditions can be related to not having the right thyroid hormones balanced to what you need but each thing would require a tweek of something to help them - with the meds to balance that symptom back out.
