New thyroid formulation from Armour

Last year, Armour thyroid was changed and the manufacturer neglected to tell the medical community about this change.  One day, as I went to my local pharmacy to pick up my prescription, they informed me that it was no longer available.  As with my entire journey with Thyroid health, I researched and found out that the medication was on "back order" due to a shortage in Pig thyroid which is the main ingredient.  I had been ill for several months wondering why I had returning symptoms and was given no support from my pharmacist or doctor as they really were not aware.  I found a pharmacy to "compound" this formulation and for several months felt back to my old self...recently, all my old symptoms of muscle pain, anxiety, sleep problems, fatigue, blah blah blah, returned.... to my horror.  I've learned that Pfizer, which is the company that made Armour was purchased by a Canadian company called Erfo.  I'm wondering if any of you might be taking the medication they manufacture and how you are feeling?  I'm waiting for lab results and curious as to whether I should take this instead of my compounded Rx.
Long story, I know....aren't they all?  Thanks!

Thanks for the information.  Yes, I'm a female.  I have NEVER saught support online like this, so I have very little experience!  I have however read lots and lots of posts which have helped me see that I am not alone.....
I am awaiting labs and will know tomorrow where I'm at...if they are not low, I will consider changing to Erfo which after hearing from a number of sources, seems to do well for people.
I really appreciate your feedback and look forward to learning more from others who seem to have been in my boat..it's a God send.  This journey has been taxing on my body, mind and spirit...finding some answers and support makes a difference.

Not another Northerner!

"I've learned that , which is the company that made Armour thyroid was purchased by a Canadian company called Erfo"

- Incorrect info as, As magpieannie confermed already.

Erfa purchased the Canadian brand called 'Thyroid', from Pfizer a while back. Has nothing to do with the Armour brand here.

If I reading your post correctly, compounding worked for a while then you got returning symptoms using it?  Had a lab recently?

Bloomington RX, Apple Valley Walgreens, and some place in ST Paul compound.

I know people on ERFA and its working well for them. I'm still in the trial phase, seems ok so far. It is the closest to old Armour avaliable.

This the most informative site around. Many hear were messed up from the FDA halting Armour production,. and this site helped them.

PS  Your profile, says your male, but you go by herbgirl? M / F ?  95% F here. I'm far out numbered!

Actually Armour brand is made by FOREST PHARM. not Pfizer.  It 's formula has been changed and yes many users did not know until they had a return of hypo. symptoms. The reason for the change in the fillers/binders is unclear. The change is more cellulose and less dexstrose. Naturethroid (made by RLC) has also changed it's formula recently. Erfa Thyroid is from Canada and is said to be similar to old (before reformulation) Armour. Many seem to do well on it and no reports of formula change. If you are doing well on the compounded, then why switch and have to deal with all these changes and supply issues or the time/hassle of having to get it from out of the country (and who know's how long our gov. will continue to allow this anyway?) Hope I've helped you out some here with all this. It's really all so crazy and so frustrating and just NOT RIGHT! Good luck and God Bless!
