A Question for those whose had a Thyroidectomy??

I've been on this site for a while now and i've read different stories from different people and what i would like to know is this: Can anyone say their health and physical being is just as it was before (normal) any of the "thyroid" issues? After a thyroidectomy at any point?????

It's only been a few months for me and i know that i have a ways to go. Before the whole thyroid issue, i had high blood pressure that was under control however every other aspect of my health was good. Since the sugery, i have higher blood pressure, high "sugar" glucose, anxiety and of course "extreme exaustion" at a certain time of the day and not to mention the "heart" issues.

I am praying in faith that once my thyroid situation is stable , these additonal health issues decrease because it does effect my entire life style. And on top of that, none of the doc's that i questioned, mentioned any of this but as soon as you mention it to them they push you off on a specialist for the problem that started due to the thyroid issue....

I had my TT when I was 24; I did not have any health issues until I turned 37. However, I continue to work 40 hr weeks, do my weekend activities. Clean house, cook, laundry, you know the usual daily things that a little fairy will not come out during the night and do for you. ....:)

I have had four major surgeries in the last year due to health issues, but recovered & working and living life..

If its any consolation...I started back at work today after taking time out for myself from stress, and 2 deaths.
Yes..there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I had my TT in September 2008 and RAI in June 2008.
Hang in there......it does get better x

I had TT after RAI and my levels were normal after roughly 4 months...I even went back to work after 2 years of working from home (as couldnt handle work outside the home).
I have had my ups and downs with the thyroid issues..mainly stress and the pit. tumour I had and oh yes..the dreaded HIVES lol.
But seriously, I would not change a thing since RAI and TT.
My life was he// before then and even though it is hard to see it...there is light at the end of the tunnel....believe me.
(((hugs)))

Thats great to know because i am very concerned about the hbp and also being referred to a Cardiologist. I started back going to the gym last week and i'm doing pretty good...I shall see if there will be any results. I last pretty much during the day without feeling exhausted until the evening and then it's pretty much history.

Thanks for the response.

It took me about 5 months to feel better.  Right now, I am feeling pretty normal, I had HBP also.  That was one of the things that made me seek help.  I am now experimenting now with dropping my HBP meds, my pressure has been much lower since the thyroid came out.  I am back to exercising almost every day, I still get tired in the afternoon, but I am really feeling pretty well.
