Please help... Anyone

I was diagnosed at age 12 with graves or hashimoto's disease. Went through several treatments including radio-active iodine and finally surgically removed half of my goiter. Since then 20 years later I am still on Levothyroxine (0.15mg a day) to supplement my thyroid. However, I am 40lbs overweight and nothing seems to help and on my 5"1 small frame you would think Dr's would be more concerned...hmmm Most days i feel horrible i.e. muscle aches, tiredness, depression ect... Also in 1996 they found through MRI (due to migraines, which I still have constantly) a "Probably normal MR Sella. Minute nonenhancing area of the posterior lobe of the pituitary to the right of the midline is indeterminate in origin and is probably an anatomic variant. The location in the posterior lobe suggests that the defect is not microadenoma. The defect may be a small cyst or a collection of CSF in the region of the posterior aspect of the posterior lobe of the pituitary. Any connection between the 2 and any suggestions on what I can do possibly to improve my quality of life. I have 3 beautiful boys and a wonderful husband whom I am not getting good quality with. Please help anyone..... I do not know what else to do.

They think that most of us thyroid patients are hypocondriacs.  Find another doctor - most of us around here have had to fire a doctor or two.  Hey, I fired the chief of endocrinology at the Level 1 trauma center a few years ago.  I'm *so* glad I did.

Thank you for your comment. Kaiser is extremly hard to deal with. And funny but i have had my endo for the last 20 years and he feels no big deal. 90% of the time I think they think I am a hypercondriac.  Thanks again

No medical professional here but a couple of thoughts.

First of all I'd find another endocrinologist - one who will listen to you and take you seriously.
Second thing, I'd ask that the MRI be repeated now (nearly 11 years later).  The pituitary definately has an affect on thyroid and anything compressing it or affecting it could be causing many of your symptoms.    If you can't find a good endo, find a good internal medicine specialist or even a neurologist who will run the MRI.

Hang in there!
