I am 6 weeks pregnant and had just re-started thyroid replacement shortly after conceiving (not knowing I was pregnant.)
In the past year, I have had persistently low FT4 (below normal) and low FT3. I tried 100 mcg T4 + 10 mcg Cytomel, but both Frees dropped below range on this dose. I also tried 50 mcg T4 + 2/3 grain Armour and FT4 also stayed low here..
For the past month, I have gradually raised my dose and have been taking 100 mcg T4 and 1.5 grains Armour. My levels are now:
TSH 0.03
FT3 2.8 (2.23-3.7)
FT4 1.05 (.8-1.38)
My doctor is concerned that my TSH is suppressed, and suggested I lower my dose. I am concerned that a lower dose will lower my FT4, since I've seen that in the past. I have read that Armour easily suppresses TSH, and one should not be concerned with TSH if on Armour . My doc says that that's true for non-pregnant women, but she says there aren't studies done on how a suppressed TSH would effect the child's development in pregnant women.
I wonder if you can help advise. I want a healthy pregnancy, and I don't want my FT4 to drop too low.
