Is it Definitely Cancer

Hi All,
I've been dealing with another diagnosis of Sarcoidosis and had to put my nodule on the back burner... only for a couple of weeks.

Now last week I noticed I could not swallow food without water and my voice went hoarse. ENT tells me today that it's from the Hurthle Cell nodule in my neck. He says the nodule is pressing up against my tracia (sp) causing pooling on one side of my throat.

I am petrified. I am dealing with sarc symptoms coming back after being off the prednisone and now I most likely have thyca and an uncurable kind.

Can the hoarsness and trouble swallowing be from the size of the nodule's pressure or def cancer.

I am such a mess... this is all happening at once!

Hi Cheryl,
The original July FNA said Hurthle cell lesion.. the entire mass the ENT said was about 4 cm.. not the nodule itself.

Yale said I could wait until January and repeat a biopsy because they did not get the same reading. Now I have the hoarsness, vocal chord paralysis thing and trouble swallowing.

The ENT did say this could be from the mass itself pushing on my trachia.. or something sarc-related.

I feel lost b/c I would of NEVER waited this long had I known. I had nodules removed from the left side and they were pretty aggressive with the way they grew but I did not have hoarsness or trouble swallowing that I remember.

THanks for responding :)

Let's  back up .... what did the FNA say ..  can you type the parts with the diagnosis and size for us?  The size can press up as you describe, but w/o an FNA to see what the pathologist thinks I don't think we can give any opinions .. and keep in mind we are patients not docs as we move along here .................

Hang in there ............. what did they want you to do about the nodule a few weeks ago as you were dealing with the other issues.

We are here for you ... C~
