iodine side effects from thyroid cancer

I had thyroid cancer in September and following surgery with the normal iodine treatment this is what I have experienced. I have been hospitalized 6 times for dehydration and nausea. I consistently vomit everything that I eat or drink.  I have had a CAT scan, blood work, upper GI test and all those are normal.  I am desperate for a diagnosis and recovery. I am 58 years old and have been in pretty good health. Although following the iodine treatment I had swelling of hands, feet, legs and face-I was given a diaretic for that. I was also on HCTZ/ LINSINOPRIL for the last 2 years. I am grasping at straws and at the mercy of the medical professionals. I don't know where else to turn or what other tests should be done. I believe in my doctors and know they have my best interest. I have lost 32 pounds since this has started, very weak, and unable to do normal everyday living.

I have not heard of side effects as severe as yours.  Some nausea may occur, but not like this.  Most side effects are temporary and involve saliva glands and taste buds.I don't know anything about HCTZ/LINSINOPRIL.  Good luck.

I was not a cancer patient - but had RAI for Graves.

I too had a very hard time with it and it took almost two years to even get to be part of the living again.

GI issues seem common with RAI - not sure why.

I wanted to bump this back up for more opinions.
