Sunday I ran a 20K race , without any problem , physical or mental . But there was no present Runner´s high or other enjoyable moment , like when I´m healthy . I find no reason to work out , or any labor whatever , with hypothyroidism .

This is copied from a section on the National Academy of hypothyroidism related to exercise.

"Exercise

It has been shown that women or men who perform more than moderate exercise, especially when associated with dieting, have reduced T4 to T3 conversion and increase reverse T3, counteracting many of the positive effects of exercise in women including weight loss."

Some peoples bodies adapt to stress better than others. Has little to do with amount of exercise, unless you over do it. Mental stess and physical stress are two different things and the same thing sometimes.

Exersice will not cause hypothyroid it self. But hypothyroid can make exercise recovery and possible injuries worse, because the chemistry composition in you body and muscle fiber is changed. The ATP process in muscle fiber is changed in favor of increased lactic acid build up - slows recovery by starving muscles of proper nutrients.

Hypo is caused from not having sufficient hormone at the cellular level.  I have not ever read or heard that exercise increases the amount of thyroid hormone produced by your thyroid gland.

I will never say that exercise is a bad thing. But too much exercise can be a stressor to the body. And stress can play a role in affecting the conversion process of T4 into T3. And stress can increase the amount of Reverse T3.  But for exercise alone to cause that much body stress it would I think have to be pretty excessive training.

So while exercise is generally good in general health terms and may help with anxiety, and weight gain I'm not sure it helps for other symptoms.  Getting the proper amount of hormone via medicine is about the only way.
