Smoking and meds?

Does smoking blunt the efficacy of Levothroxin?  My TSH 6 weeks after a TT for multi-nodular goiter was 0.006. This is the first time I have tested out hyper.
I had quit smoking three weeks prior to surgery. The only change was surgery and no smoking.

I'm not sure about smoking but in the health pages there is an article about taking synthorid like meds + caffeine (coffee)!

I read something recently that said smokers, in general, have larger thyroid glands and feel the symtoms of thyroid disease more intensely.  That's particularly so for hyperthyroidism and more especially for the eye disease associated with it.

It didn't say anything about smoking and it's interaction with the meds though.

I'd guess that between quitting smoking and going through surgery, your body probably is going to need a longer period to settle down.  It's been through a lot.

Congratulation on getting through both!  Keep it up.

I just recalled there was a really large post bout smoking and thyroids and/or thyroid meds ... maybe do a search and plug in "smoking thyroid" and see if it comes up .. about 2 weeks ago maybe?
