Thyroid cancer is commonly accompanied by abnormal lymph nodes at the base of the neck.
It's very possible to have thyroid nodules and swollen lymph nodes that are not cancerous... Most of us, here on the forum, have nodules on our thyroid gland and they aren't cancer (I've had multiple nodules for years, that are not cancerous); in fact, less than 5% of all nodules turn out to be cancer.
The only way you can tell if a nodule is cancerous or not is to have a biopsy, if you have a dominant nodule. If the biopsy is inconclusive, thyroid gland removal may be recommended, just to be safe.
Please provide ultrasound report if you have it. We have members who can help interpret it...
Hi,
Not all nodules refer cancer. Depends if you find an enlargement with the thyroid being palpated or not. Or a solitary where thyroid is not palpated.
The common way of recognizing thyroid cancer is the visibility of the lump when swallowing.
No not all nodules and lymph node abnormalities relate to cancer. Thyroglossal Cyst may present with an enlargement . If u have a fever or sore throat, may have presence of abnormal nodes. If you have a change in your voice or have a breathing difficulty please visit a Doctor for further examination.
Hope you be alright,
Thank You
