Synthroid with Cytomel

Taking 200 Synthroid had 25 recently added. Now based on TSH 5.190 and T3 3.8 adding Cytomel 5mcg
twice a day. Have 3 nodules on thyroid 8mm, 10mm, 11mm.  Question 1: at what size is a nodule biopsy performed?
Question 2: Is this the correct time to be adding Cytomel?

When you get the copy of your tests, you can post the reference ranges.  Was the T3, Free or Total?  They aren’t the same test and don’t provide the same information.

Whether or not a nodule needs to be biopsies depends on it’s physical characteristics, as well as the size, but, typically, they don’t biopsy until a nodule is, at least 1.0 cm.  For instance, I have a nodule that’s been classified as “moderately suspicious”, but it’s never been biopsied because the last ultrasound showed it to be only 0.9 cm.   When it/if it reaches 1.0 cm, they will probably biopsy it.

Why do you feel that Cytomel is not the right medication for you?   Typically, T4 medication is decreased by about 20-25 mcg for each 5 mcg T3 added.   Excess fatigue isn’t the only symptom that would warrant adding T3 to your regimen.    Free T3 is the hormone your individual cells, actually, use, whereas Free T4 is a “storage” hormone and must be converted to T3 prior to use.

Need lab reference range to further assist..  If notdule is visible, biopsy can be performed.  As for Cytomel, depends upon labs/reference and how you are feeling.

My T3 was 3.8 range 2.3-4.2  I do
I do not have a copy of the tests yet as it was a phone consult. I do not have excess fatigue and do not think that taking this drug is the best course of action for me.
