T4 test???

I have all the classic symptoms of hyperthyroid so on Monday I went to the doctor to ask her about it.  She ordered a "T4" test and just called today and said that "my thyroid was fine."  I'M NOT CONVINCED!  Is running a T4 test good enough to establish a hyper condition or are there other tests to run.  I have purchased a thyroid test from an online company that will do a T4, T3 & TSH.  Any thoughts?

My daily troubles are:

Weight loss.  15lbs in 3 months
Severe insomnia
Anxiety
Drastic mood swings
Slight hand tremors
Cold hands & feet
I wake up sweating
My heart feels like it is going to pound out of my chest.
Crazy fatigue
Muscle weakness.
Dizzy and lightheaded

I purchased a "Thyroid Panel ll" test from healthcheckusa.com. and am having the blood drawn today.  This test states that it checks for all 3 items so I'm excited.  In the mean time...does anyone have suggestions on how to treat this hyperthyroid problem I have?  Does anyone take natural suppliments?  Any direction would be greatly appreciated as I am really suffering here.

There are different tests that are outdated that many doctors still run. A straight T4 test won't do you any good indicating a thyroid issue.

T4 hormone is in the body. It is the converter component into T3. The proper way to measure these on a lab is to run how much "free" hormone is present on both the converter T4 hormone and metobolism direct cell T3 hormone.

When you redo the tests you need these labs.

Free T3
Free T4
TSH

and in hyperthyroidism an autoimmune test TSI and TgAb is best to have done.

Those are your complete labs to start.

I am in the opposite boat...I have begged for a T4...my Dr. only did an TSH and an uptake and scan.  I am now hunting for a new Dr. as this is making me crazy and I think I am overmedicated...it has only been a few days, but this is not right.

Your Dr. should have run more than a T4, I would think.
