TT Scar and sun exposure

I'm two months out from TT and wondering about sun exposure on my scar.  We are heading to Florida in two days and will be out in the sun alot.  I wear sunscreen but am just curious if sun exposure will affect my scar.  It seems like I read somewhere on there that it would by making it darker or taking it longer to heal?

Please let me know what you guys know about this.  I don't want to do anything that will extend the time it takes my scar to heal or something that makes it heal darker.

Thanks guys!

Thanks guys for all the great tips!

Chitchat - I was just getting ready to head out to pick up some last minute things so I will pick up the 55 Neutrogena Broad Spectrum and Lip Balm SPF 30.

redhed87 - We are heading for Orlando.  I sure hope the weather clears up down there.  There's a chance of scattered showers from Saturday to Wednesday!

The lip balm idea is great. Compact and in your pocket or purse.

My surgeon told me to keep the scar out of the sun for at least two years, but especially when it's brand new.  I would definitely try to keep it covered while you are down there.  Have fun!!!

You should put major sunscreen on your scar!!!  I live in Florida and wear sunscreen  everyday.  The sun is very strong here.....use the Neutrogena 55 also ChitChat.  It is the best.  Have fun in FL KJ- where are you visiting?  I live in the Fort Lauderdale area.  Just came back from the Keys..........

YES YES YES the first year be VERY VERY protective of the scar or else it can permanently discolor and be dark!!!!  I used 55 Neutrogena Broad Spectrum the entire year on two incisional scars that I had last year and both are fine this year .... I  carried around a lip balm SPF 30 in my pocket and kept reapplying it to the scar just to be safe.

Have a wonderful trip!!!!!
