You did not respond to my questions, but I want to impress on you te importance of thyroid on metabolism.  There is information saying that hypothyroid patients can have Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) that is 200 - 900 calories per day too low.    If  diet and exercise remain unchanged and your RMR drops by just 200 calories per day, you would gain about 46 pounds over time.

What makes you think your thyroid is low functioning?  Have you been tested for the actual thyroid hormones, Free T4 and Free T3?  If so post the results and reference ranges shown on the lab report.

Even more important than lab tests is an evaluation for symptoms.  Please look at this link and tell us which ones you seem to have.

I started progesterone cream. OTC. Now My doc prescribed 100mg pill.

I REALLY WANT TO APPLY TOPICALLY. CAN I OPEN CAPSULE PUT ON MY SKIN?
I would talk to your doctor first before applying something intended for oral use on your skin.  Usually creams or other products designed to be absorbed through the skin need special chemicals to help them get through the skin barrier (water doesn't penetrate the skin, nor do most soaps, lotions, or other things you usually put on your skin.  Skin is designed to keep out foreign invaders, such as viruses and bacteria, so it isn't easy for most things to be absorbed).

I would worry that applying it to the skin would have zero effect, or alternatively, if it is indeed in a form where it is absorbed through the skin, that the dosage may be too much or too little since it is meant to be taken orally, and could be dangerous.  From what I can find, OTC progesterone cream is sold as a "beauty product", and I'm not entirely sure that much of the progesterone  in the cream actually gets into the body (I could be wrong - there is a lot of conflicting information on progesterone creams on the internet).

If you are set on using a progesterone cream instead of taking a pill, that is something that should be discussed with your doctor.  From what I can find - it looks like OTC Topical progesterone creams are from natural sources and are sold as "beauty products" and not something prescribed to treat medical issues.  Progesterone creams seem to use natural progesterone isolated from soy or yams, while oral progesterone is a synthetic form of the hormone, so they aren't the same thing.
