US HEAD NECK SOFT TISSUE THYROID

INDICATION:
NONTOXIC SINGLE THYROID NODULE;   .

COMPARISON:
None available.

TECHNIQUE:
Region of study: Thyroid gland and adjacent soft tissues.

Grayscale and color Doppler sonographic images acquired by a medical sonographer.

FINDINGS:
RIGHT THYROID LOBE: 5.7 x 2.5 x 2.6 cm.  Homogenous and normal echotexture. Normal vascularity.

NODULES:

Nodule #: 1

Location: Right mid lobe.

Composition: Solid or almost completely solid (2 points)

Echogenicity: Hyperechoic or isoechoic (1 point)

Shape: Wider-than-tall (0 points)

Margin: Smooth (0 points)

Echogenic foci: None or large comet-tail artifacts (0 points)

Size: 2.4 x 2.2 x 2.8 cm.

Total points: 3

ACR TI-RADS Category: TR3, Mildly suspicious (3 points). FNA if >= 2.5 cm. Follow if >= 1.5 cm.

Additional smaller spongiform and cystic thyroid nodules involving the right lower lobe measuring less than 1 cm.

LEFT THYROID LOBE: 3.9 x 1.7 x 1.5 cm.  Homogenous and normal echotexture. Normal vascularity.

NODULES: None.

ISTHMUS: 0.5 cm.  No nodules.

OTHER: No regional adenopathy.

IMPRESSION:
TR 3 nodule involving the right mid lobe of the thyroid gland.  This meets fine-needle aspiration criteria by TI-RADS.

ACR TI-RADS: TR3 Mildly suspicious, FNA >= 2.5 cm,F/U >= 1.5 cm
