Thyroid and hives

I've had hypothyroidism for about 20 years now, and I've been suffering from chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives) for a couple of months now.  At first it was ocassionally, now it's been constant.  My lips also swelled really bad one day.   I read about how thyroid disease and hives are related, so I had my labs drawn.  Here are my results...

TSH-0.24
T3-1.70
T4-0.89

My symptoms (besides the horrible hives) are high blood pressure, anxiety and mood swings, fatigue, constipation, mild hair falling out, rapid heartbeat, dry skin.   So I've got symptoms of both hypothyroidsim and hyperthyroidism. :(

I take 180mg of Armour thyroid, and my doctor said to stay on the same dosage.  Not sure what to do, but I've GOT to get rid of these hives, and am bothered by the side effects of the antihistamines that he told me to take.

I need the reference ("normal") ranges for your FT4 and TT3.  For example, FT4 should be something close to 0.8-1.8.

TSH is suppressed due to the T3 in the Armour you are taking.  TSH says you are hyper, but you're not.  Once on meds, especially meds with T3 in them, TSH often becomes totally useless in determining thyroid status.    Until I see ranges, I can't be specific, but your TT3 and FT4 don't look hyper to me.  I'll say more once you post ranges.

Do you split your dose?  How long have you been on Armour?  Were you ever on any other thyroid meds?  If so, did you have hives then?  Have you considered an allergy to something in Armour?

From researching online, every site said that I was hyperthyroid, NOT hypo.   So I have not taken my meds in 3 days.   The first 2 days I had no hives at all, but this morning I broke out on my hips and legs pretty bad.   Not sure what to do-I'm getting married in October, and sure want this to be resolved before the wedding.  lol

Please post the reference range for your FT3 and FT3.  Ranges vary lab to lab, so they have to come from your own lab report.  Are those FREE T3 and FREE T4?

It sounds like you are under medicated.  Do you split your dose of Armour into two half doses?
