Thyroid to blame?

Hello Dr.
I am a 35-year-old female, who over the years has gained about 80lbs (over 8.5 years). I eat very healthy; have a 2.5 yr old toddler, so I am active.  I always thought that my Thyroid was to blame for my hair loss, missing periods (in the last couple of years), getting depressed, severe migraines, hairy legs and arms, feeling very tired ( I don’t sit around , but keep pushing myself to do things), heat intolerance etc. However my thyroid test (taken in the last year) results all came back normal. I have had my gall bladder removed and now it seems like I have some sort of a Nodule (un-diagnostic so far) on my thyroid.  My OBGYN Suggested that I don't get pregnant, until the thyroid problem has been taken care of and is asking me to go see my Primary. My primary doc is telling me to see my OBGYN. Can I assume that the nodule on my thyroid is to blame for my missing periods and weight gain? Why are my test results coming back normal? Even a Nuclei Iodide scan came back normal?  does that mean I don't have cancer? Or could there be something going on with the pituitary gland?
Thank you for your help!

Thank you for the insight regarding the possibility of me, having PCOS. However , I don't know if this is normal, But my thyroid levels, have been jumping from 3.40 ( 10/07) -2.67 ( 12/07) 2.16 (06/02/08), 1.73 906/07/08) . the last 2 TSH readings were within 2 weeks of each other. All my free Harmones, T3-T4 came back normal. My sugars climb up at nght  ( fasting sugar reading are really high). Periods are still very irregular. Just had some blood drawn to check if the Pitutary is functioning well.... will have to waite and c.

Only a few questions get in a day.

Just throwing another possibility out there instead of a thyroid issue but have you ever research Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).  Irregular periods, weight gain, hair loss on head, hair growth in places we don't want it are some symptoms of PCOS.  You might want to look into that if your thyroid has been ruled out.  I am not a doctor but I am currently trying to figure out if I have PCOS so I saw some similar problems I have in your post.

Good luck!
