Undermedicated?

Hi
I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I was diagnosed with it in May 2013. The below results were when I was taking 150mcg Levo and 10mcg T3, my dose has now been moved up to 175mcg Levo and 10mcg T3. Would T3 need to be increased at all?

Symptoms - feeling of trickling out of ear, fatigue, heavy periods, cold feet, dry skin, weight gain, hair loss, dizziness, joint aches and pains.

Thankyou

Serum TSH - 1.66 (0.2 - 4.2)
Serum Free T4 - 16.3 (12 - 22)
Serum Free T3 - 4.6 (3.1 - 6.8)

Vitron C seems very good.  It contains Vitamin C to help prevent stomach issues.  You could try splitting the pills into quarters and take 1/4 per day and see how that works.  That might help maintain an adequate ferritin level without having to bother with an infusion.

So you have been on the dose increase for a relatively short time.  The half life of T4 is about one week, so it takes 4 weeks to reach 90% of its final effect on serum levels.  T3 has a half-life of less than a day, so it will be fully reflected in about a week.  Since your Free T3 will be affected by both the T3 med and conversion of the additional T4 med, I think you should consider allowing 5-6 weeks to see how you feel with the new doses, and then try to go back and re-test.  At that time it would also be a good idea to test for at least once, Reverse T3 and cortisol.  You can read about all this in the following link.  I recommend reading at least the first two pages, and more if you want to get into the discussion and scientific evidence supporting all the suggestions and recommendations.

For Vitamin D, I expect that you need more than the 800 IU daily.  Probably more like 2000IU.  B12 should best be in the upper end of its range.  If your B12 is at 500, then probably 500 mcg daily would be a good amount.  For ferritin, why an infusion?  You could just take an iron supplement like Vitron C as needed.

Thanks gimel, I cannot absorb iron tablets very well. For some reason they make my stomach feel heavy.

Before discussing your test results, when were those tests done?  Have you started on the dosage increase?  Have you been tested for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin?

Thanks gimel, they were done in January this year. I have started on the dose increase and I have noticed a lift in my depression but nothing else.

Vitamin D is 38.8 (>75) and the doctor has restarted my vitamin D3 tablets (800 units)

My ferritin was boosted with an iron infusion in May 2016 because of heavy periods, it has now dropped into double figures from being in the 100s. Current level is 85 (15 - 150) Haematologist says I will need a further infusion if the ferritin drops back down to 50 which looks likely.

B12 I have no idea but I have been taking folic acid tablets for folate deficiency and I have been looking paler since starting the folic acid tablets. It was in the 500s before but I supplemented up until Christmas just gone. I only supplemented for a week because I felt unwell and withdrew it.
I meant to say the B12 was in the 500s before but I supplemented this up until Christmas just gone. I felt very lightheaded and more tired a week into taking it.
