What could my constipation, facial flushing, and trouble breathing be caused by?

My medical issues have been spiraling out of control since mid June 2019. It started with constipation, abdominal pain, acid reflux, and nausea, but soon I also began to have facial flushing, heart palpitations, trouble breathing (along with tightening in my chest), and body aches. Since then I've been diagnosed with Hashimotos, however, my TSH levels are not high enough so the endocrinologist is refusing to put me on medication. My doctors suspected a carcinoid tumor and actually found one in my appendix, which I had removed in January. But even after the tumor was removed, all of my symptoms remained the same, so they recently conducted a gallium-68 PET scan to check for other tumors and metastases. The scan didn't show anything and now I'm back at square one. Any ideas on what all of my symptoms add up to?

Hello - I'm sorry no one responded to your questions.

Your symptoms are classic symptoms of hypothyroidism.  Was TSH the only thyroid related test your endo ordered for you?  What about Free T4 and Free T3?  Those are the actual thyroid hormones the body uses, with Free T3 being the "active" hormone and Free T4 being converted to Free T3.

TSH is a pituitary hormone that is only an indicator and often doesn't correlate to Free T4 and Free T3.  Neither does it correlate with symptoms.   With Hashimoto's, symptoms can be present for years before actual thyroid hormone levels (or TSH) go out of range.

We'll be able to give you more information/advice once we know about your Free T4 and Free T3 levels.  If those tests weren't ordered, you should ask to get them done.  If they were ordered, please post their results, along with the corresponding reference ranges.   If your current doctor refuses to order Free T4 and Free T3, you should find a doctor that will.

Again, my apologies for not having responded to your questions sooner.
