What would you rather focus on...Maintaining, or losing weight during the holidays?

With the fall and winter holidays upon us, its a good idea to focus on whether our goals should be on weight loss, or simply maintenance, for those of us concerned with healthy diets and weight issues, especially when dealing with thyroid issues.

I've gained a *few* pounds since my medical situation began, and now I am trying to get back to where I was.  Holidays or not, I'm probably going to try to “maintain” even though I’d like to “lose”

How about you?  Will you try to maintain, or lose during the holiday season?

I WANT CHOCOLATE CAKE.. LOL I have been having a craving all week for chocolate cake and goody time is just around the corner.  Please just let me maintain.  I have no will power at TG and XMas.

I have lost 30 lbs.  I also am on a low carb diet.  So yes, it would be great to continue my weight loss.  I just have to remember to trade off and keep those carbs in line.  And I have a treadmill in the next room.  I just need to pull the cobwebs off and get it up and running again...I just gotta do it.

It's hard ... I find I gain for no known reason since being on thyroid meds (sigh) and then the weight comes off (a few lbs) and then it is so hard to lose anymore .

It's like it has mind of it's own ... I really feel that way sometimes!

But I'm in control when it comes down to it ..but the meds def play a role in it I think for sure!

I think maintaining my weight is what I would want to do. Lost a ton recently and certainly don't want to edge back up eating all those no-no's :)

I voted to maintain, but am in the process of coming up with a plan, getting the kitchen stocked accordingly, etc.  While I will be happy to maintain, I'd certainly rather lose this 30 lbs I gained when I went hypo 3 yrs ago, for the last time.  It's been a real struggle for me because my schedule doesn't allow enough time for proper meal planning, shopping, cooking, exercise, etc, plus the stress level has been WAY too high.

no winter where I live.

I've started a low carb diet (< 60 g carb/day) and on this I can finally lose weight.  Down about 5 kg so far and another 10 to go.  Am  hoping to acheive my goal in a couple of months and after that maintain.

Of course for me, being in Australia, we are coming into summer, but I answered as if I was going into winter. That was my goal, to maintain my weight as I was/am hypo and knew it would be too hard to try to lose anything too much. I still did hand weights and some dance to music this winter, hard to not eat in winter time, but also am very aware that human bodies, like animals will always gain a small amount due to lack of daylight on the brain chemistry. (Another long scientific explanation coming up I think!)

Hey Chit-Chat!
I actually joined another weight loss challenge to keep me accountable during the holidays.  I'm hoping to lose, but will be happy to maintain the 22 pound loss from the last challenge!
