What does this TPO AB result indicate?

What does a TPO AB test result of <3.0 mean?  The standard range given was <5.6IU/mL .

Does this mean the test result is normal or abnormal?  Are the antibodies high or low?  What does this indicate?  Sorry, just trying to understand until I hear from the doctor.

Yes, I would look into it some more because his TSH value is above the standard.  I know your lab uses 0.4-4.0 as standard, but that's outdated.  The new standard is 0.3- 3.0.  In addition to thyroglobulin antibodies, I would also ask for a Free T3 and depending on how long ago these tests were run, it might be worth having them repeated just to see if they come up with the same values.

Maybe you should get the thyroglobulin antibodies tested ,he might have hypothyroidism since his tsh is above normal   .3-3  !

I was concerned that my 3 year old son was not growing as well as I thought he should compared to my other son and that we have taller people in our family.  My 3 year old son is in the 15th percentile for height and 20th for weight.  Given that my husband is 6 ft. the primary doctor ordered a bone xray that came back as being a few months younger than his actual age but within the standard deviation of 2.  She wasn't too concerened except that it did not explain his height being at the lower end of the growth chart so referred to pediatric endo.  who ran the throid blood tests with the following results:

T4Free = 0.95    (standard range is 0.70 -1.48 ng/dL)
TSH = 4.99        (standard range is 0.4 - 4.00 uIU/mL)
TPO AB = <3.0  (standard range is < 5.6 IU/mL)

I haven't really noticed any other symptoms.  Just an active 3 year old.  He does have eczema that started when he was three months old.

A TPOab of < 3.0 with the range given as < 5.6 means that antibodies are not present and could indicate that autoimmune disease is not present.  

What other tests, if any, were run?  Other results?  What are you being tested for?
