The week is closing on this campaign but for us patients we live for awareness daily and for LIFE..
Please keep this coalition in your thoughts through the year and if you have any suggestions or can offer help - please let me personally know.
Good Luck and Happy Friday - entering ourselves into past and present rememberance also for this long - holiday weekend would be honorable too. Support the men and women in combat for the US and others regardless of your war beliefs. Its not the "war" I want noticed or will set my mind on. Its the humans there involved in it (then and now) -that I will hold dear to my heart this weekend.
Mary Shomon initiated January and co-exsisted with the AACE on their January Awareness Month.
The ATA is the non-profit thyroid association and there campaign may be a better fit. Mary w/ her Executive Director is working on the non-profit sector and hopefully soon will have a solid coalition on getting a thyroid campaign nationally.
Don't fret! - we will have power soon on a unity of information globally
For the strong thyroid patients.. My advice - You are intelligent and certainly have alot to contribute to keep this coalition into making progress. Please fill me in on your strengths to see where you can assist on getting this campaign rolling.
For the suffers still in limbo: - Lean on the coalition and their base of knowledge. There are answers for you and advocates around the world are trying to get information to doctors and patients to make correct thyroid treatment an easy tool of treatment.
Lots of work though and please - anyone contact me with questions or to offer services.
haha....thats like me, the first time i was in my endos office he said to me "How long has your goiter been there?" I replied by saying "How longs my what been where?"
Dah...world what day? Amazing...even us thyroidians didn't even know....talk about your 'gentlemen's club' attitude!
It's definately a lack of awareness of the whole thyroid issue, i agree there 100%. 12 months ago I knew I had one, but I didnt even know what the damn thing did!!! Its not until someone realises they have thyroid issues that people actually gain knowledge about it. There most definately needs to be more awareness in the general community about thyroid issues, and a general understanding of thyroid problems in general. It would probably make some of our lives a bit easier as well because we wouldnt have to explain as much!
It is lack of knowledge ....I didnt even know what a thyroid was a few years ago or how it made the organs function.
Yes it is sad and very hard for others to understand if they dont suffer from thyroid issues.
It's sad...but i don't think anyone who's not going through a thyroid issue..cares!
I thought January was world thyroid day.
In Australia, its January.
But I have missed it cos its the 26th here lol.
To all thyroid sufferes....may you be KIND to yourself and know there is light at the end of the tunnel xxx
That's odd, I have never heard of it.
