Rodeo .. it's great to see you on, but so sorry on the hair loss .. I also wish I had an good answer for you.  Not to dissappoint you, I lost about 75% of my hair and it has just started to grow back.  It has been falling out since December.  It has really been a slow process for me.  The beautician hopes I get a full head of hair back.

If I may say. Give it a little more time.

Take care

Hi, I'm new here but this caught my eye. My hair fell out horribly from May-July. It has slowed down quite a bit, although still more than average in a day.

Tomorrow I learn the results of myriads of tests, thyroid and adrenals among them.

Is there any hope, when once on something for thyroid, that the hair will regrow?

As my trusty anesthetist told me...hair loss when you have thyroid problems is usually slow in happening...so any stress to the body up to 3 months prior can cause the hair loss. In my case having the surgery and a plummeting TSH in the Dec 07 by February 08 my hair was falling out at great speed. It's been 7 months and I am only now seeing it slow down...(only need to clear the brush at the end of the whole head brushing instead of every stroke now!)
So it may be from earlier when you had all the other trouble rather than the past five weeks. There is hope...we can always say we are Hare Krishnas...or Telly Savalas fans....!

Rodeo .. it's great to see you, but so sorry on the hair loss .. I wish I had an answer for you.  Do you think any helpful hints can be found on the alopecia community or you think two distinctly different things.

Oh Rodeo, I wish I had an answer for you.  I can only tell my story.  TSH 129 started with hair loss and remained  throughout synthroid increases.  TSH normal and hairloss continued on 137.  From this board I learned that I needed to get my ferritin level checked.  For optimal hair growth I believe the level needs to be near 60.  My level when first checked was very low.  Doc suggested I take iron pills.  Gradually over a 7 month period my level has increased.  Do I still have some loss, yes and currently on 120 of Armour.  But, gradually as my ferritin increased I noticed less loss.  It is still here daily but not in the clumps that it was.  Tough decision on the iron as it has many precautionary statements with it.  I spoke at length with my Dr about it and both reasoned that at the time it was right for me.

There is hope, and it will start subsiding for you!!!

Best wishes, I know how upseting hair loss is.
